CInHEd Holds Its First Governing Council Meeting
Cunningham Institute of Higher Education (CInHEd) held its first Governing Council Meeting in Aburi on Friday, 16 October 2026, marking an important milestone in the Institute’s governance and development.

On the agenda
The day’s agenda covered the State of the Institute, Council structures and committees, finance and budget planning, staffing, student enrolment and welfare, and digital platforms and security. It also included preparations for a Ministry of Education site visit, compliance and institutional growth, followed by a scheduled review of resolutions and actions.

A milestone for institutional governance
The first Governing Council Meeting brought institutional oversight and long-term development into focus. The programme opened with welcome remarks and the formal business of establishing a quorum, recording apologies and declarations of interest, and adopting the agenda. These steps set the framework for a full day of institutional reports and governance discussions.
Taking stock and shaping the Council’s work
A State of the Institute report was scheduled to provide an overview of CInHEd’s progress and priorities. The governance session placed Council structures, the Statutes, committees and vacant seats on the agenda. Together, these topics provided a framework for considering how the Institute is governed and how responsibilities are organised as it develops.
Planning for people and sustainable development
Finance and human resources formed another central part of the programme. The finance session covered expenditure to date and the budget framework, while the people and HR session focused on staffing, appointments and continuity. The agenda brought financial planning and the Institute’s staffing needs into the same conversation about its future development.
Keeping students and digital services in view
The Student Affairs session focused on enrolment, the prospective-student pipeline and student welfare. Alongside these priorities, the Digital and IT session covered the website, mobile app, institutional platforms and security. These agenda items connected the Institute’s development with the practical services and support that prospective and current students need.
Looking ahead
The final part of the programme was dedicated to strategy, including preparations for a Ministry of Education site visit, compliance and growth. Time was also set aside to summarise resolutions and maintain an action register before closing remarks and adjournment. The meeting marks a starting point for the Council’s work in supporting CInHEd’s institutional direction and development.
